The world in which my current D&D campaign takes place is one of my own creation, which means the pantheon of gods is different, the whole setting is different, important NPCs are different, etc. It’s what the cool kids would call “homebrew”. One of the gods I’ve created is the main antagonist of the campaign and also happens to be the Demon King. For this antagonist, I wanted to create a group of mini-bosses that would carry out his demands and hinder the progress of the party while also adhering to the demonic theme. So what’s a common theme of a pantheon when it comes to demons? The Seven Deadly Sins! I thought that would be too obvious though, so I decided to make each and every sin unconventional and unexpected. For Lust, I didn’t just want to make a temptress or some kind of fem fetal, so I went for irony: a priest. One expects a priest to be abstinent, holy, and above all sin, so who would expect a priest to be the sin of Lust?
I came up with Father Lucius Luxuria Blackburn, basing him both on the irony of the situation and one of my favorite villains, Enrico Pucci from Jojo’s Bizarre Adventure: Stone Ocean.
